Use Warm Water
For the best results, use warm water, not too hot and not too cold. Cold water can cause your “banana” to shrink, affecting the mold’s accuracy. On the other hand, if the water is too hot, the alginate will harden too quickly, making it difficult to get a proper mold. Aim for a comfortable temperature that’s close to body heat.
Team Up for Help and Fun
Making a mold is a unique experience, and it’s even better when you share it with someone else. It’s hard to do everything alone, so having an extra set of hands can make a significant difference. Having a partner or friend assist with the mixing and setup can be very helpful. This allows you to concentrate on the more intimate parts of the process without having to worry about the technical aspects.
Choose a Suitable Location
Although our kit is designed with a no-spill system to minimize mess, it’s best to conduct the cloning process in a location with easy access to water and hard flooring that’s simple to clean. Ideal spaces include bathrooms, kitchens, or other rooms with wood, tile, or concrete floors. This setup ensures that any accidental spills can be quickly and easily cleaned without causing damage. Avoid carpeted or fabric-covered areas to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.

STEP 1
Take the sheets of latex and make a cut, in the center, about 3/4 cm (1.18/1.57 in) long on one sheet and 2 cm (0.79 in) on the other. Use scissors or a cutter.
STEP 2
Close one end of the tube using the latex sheet with the larger cut and the two elastic bands.
STEP 3
Fill a container with a capacity of about 2 liters (67 fl oz) with 800 ml. (27.05 fl oz) of lukewarm tap water (approximately 30°C / 86°F). lf possible, use a thermometer for accurate measurement.
STEP 4
Open the tube with the alginate powder, remove the vibrator, and pour the entire contents into the container with the water, stirring vigorously for 45 seconds with a spoon or spatula.
STEP 5
lnsert your erect banana into the tube through the opening in the latex, making sure that no part of the banana touches the walls of the tube.
STEP 6
Pour all the alginate mixture from the top of the tube until the banana is completely covered. Keep the banana steady without touching the walls of the tube.
STEP 7
Once the alginate gel has hardened, gently remove your banana from the tube.
STEP 8
lnsert the tube that contained the alginate powder into the one with the freshly made mold, so as to prevent the mold from slipping down inside the tube.
STEP 9
Pour the contents of the two silicone jars into a bowl and mix for about 1 minute until you obtain a smooth mixture.
STEP 10
Pour the silicone mixture very slowly into the mold to avoid the formation of air bubbles. Do not fill the mold completely; leave a space of about 1 inch from the edge to insert the vibrator.
STEP 11
Close the tube with the latex sheet and the rubber band. Then insert the vibrator through the cut in the latex leaving the battery compartment cap out.
STEP 12
Wait half an hour before removing your replica from the mold. You can wash it with soap and water to keep it clean.
